A BBC report today stated that the Gas prices increases are not justified, backed by EnergyWatch, claiming that consumers are paying over the odds. The Watchdog has called for Competition Commission to investigate.

British Gas last week announced that it would increase the amount it charges for gas and electricity by 15%. This followed moves by Npower who raised electricity prices by 12.7% and gas by 17.2%. EDF Energy also followed suite, increasing its electricity tariffs by 7.9% and gas bills by 12.9%.

I’m not sure how many people know, but gas and electricity prices do vary across the UK and it could be cheaper going with a different provider depending on the area you are in. With nothing to lose, we encourage UK gas and electricity customers to see if they can get a better deal.
